Bharti Airtel acquires strategic stake in Juggernaut Books

Those who have followed my ramblings elsewhere over the years will know I view India as one of the most exciting book markets on the planet, and will also know how enthusiastically I greeted the launch of the digital publisher Juggernaut last year.

Juggernaut has since seen just shy of one million downloads and with its mix of savvy business, social media and quality content has established itself as a key player in the Indian publishing sector.

Now comes news that Bharti Airtel has bought into Juggernaut, as part of the telco’s digital content strategy.

Badal Bagri, Chief Financial Officer, Bharti Airtel, Badal Bagri explained,

Juggernaut is an exciting digital platform and complements our content vision. We look forward to working with them and supporting the next phase of their growth journey.

Juggernaut’s CEO Simran Khara said,

Our ambition is to get many more Indians to read and write, and our partnership with Airtel will allow us to expand our distribution manifold.

Juggernaut first partnered with Airtel in late 2016, making the Juggernaut reading app available on the telco platform.

Just last month Juggernaut partnered with the train travel app RailYatri, and also with MakeMyTrip and Apollo Hospitals.

Little known the west, Bharti Airtel was in 2015 ranking the third largest telco in the world. As well as in India, Bharti Airtel has operations in twenty countries across Asia and Africa.
