The audiobook outfit that somehow scooped the domain name for audiobooks has expanded its reach into the UK and Australia today.
Audiobooks.com offers a similar subscription model to Amazon-owned Audible.

Audiobooks dot com logoAudiobooks.com may not be as well known in author circles as Audible, but parent company RB Media (in turn owned by Los Angeles-based Shamrock Capital Advisers) claims to be the largest producer of audiobooks on the planet, with seven imprints and two platforms.
In a soft launch in Australia RB Media is reporting Audiobooks.com saw 80,000 audio downloads and expects to have 70,000 titles available to Australian listeners by the end of the year.
While expecting to offer a similar quantity in the UK, RB Media reports the UK soft launch had slightly fewer downloads, at just 60,000.
